Summer's here, again!
What a super week of hot, summer weather. Even though the temperature was soaring in the classroom, Year 5 persevered with making their marvellous musical instruments!

My day with Y5 by Mrs Warner
I was very fortunate to spend the whole day with Y5. We usually have circle time together each Tuesday and I have been thrilled to see a change in behaviour and attitude from week to week.
Today I wanted to show the class how to use the animation program Pivot stick-figure animator, here it is to download for free but remember to ask first before downloading anything from the Internet.
The children also used the web cams to make short animation films. Working in teams they had to listen to others, demonstrate co-operation and take turns.
Here are some photos of them at work.
Deciding what the film would be about
A plasticine figure
Rugby posts
Grabbing the image
Creating the animation
Getting organised
Back in class we had some time discussing what would happen if we were shipwrecked.
What would the plan of action be?
Make a shelter?
Sun bathe?
Go find food?
In groups children had to decide what they would do in this situation. It was very interesting listening to different points of view. One group said the first thing they would do is to make someone a leader, another group said finding food was the most important job to do. What do you think?
I had a great time with you all, (I was very tired too!!!) I hope you all learned something new and enjoyed making animation films.

Argument!
Year 5 have been learning to have an argument - civilised of course! We discussed topics such as should animals be kept in zoos, why should we wear school uniform and are footballers paid too much?
